February 18, 2014 By Jordan Sudweeks Ive owned this on the 360 and PC and have not yet been disappointed... aside from the issue of players... the community is rather dead but that shouldnt stop you from enjoying the terrible campaign and possibly meeting up with the community that is still around (like me) and play some multiplayer. When they announced this would be a third person shooter, I was skeptical yet also hopeful because Ive also enjoyed the Armored Core series. In the end, it would see that developing games like this arent their strong point at all. The movement is clunky, the action is boring and it feels like a game that was made in 2004, not to mention looks like it too. The voice acting was sketchy and lacked emotion. Combat consisted of standing out in the open since there wasnt a way to shoot from behind cover, and trying to kill your opponent before they could kill you. The dodge system in this game is also terrible. You never move far enough to avoid anything and you cant do it too often without running out of energy. If theres anything else to complain about, it would be the controls which are terribly clunky. If youre interested in playing a 3rd Person Mech game, go out and find Armored Core or Zone of the Enders. Both have fluid, fast combat without the clunky controls. December 7, 2012 By William Hannon Verified Purchase I downloaded this because I am huge fan of the original Front Mission games for the Super Famicom. FME actually does a good job of bringing the original elements back, and it includes some new additions. Controls and graphics are top notch, as one would expect from Square, and the story starts out pretty interesting, but then it ends up back on boring old Huffman Island. American gamers are most likely unfamiliar with the Front Mission series, so I dont expect heavy sales in that country. Also, "Wanzer" sounds to me a lot like "Wanker", just to let the folks at Square know. The problem that I have with this game, is that it doesnt add anything new to the 3rd person shooter genre, other than being staged inside of the Wanzers for the most part. It does add to the series, but the reason that "Front Mission" was so cool was that it was totally unique at the time. I would have liked it if, instead of adding together a bunch of bland 3rd person shooter elements, Square would have tried something new. Otherwise, they should have at least added bars to all of the bases where you can chill out and listen to some cool tunes. Comment |� Was this review helpful to you?
